Yep, 5% error to the low side. Meter reads about 1/4 gallon low after filling a 5-gallon bucket. Simple compensation calculation and since I will usually be topping off less than 5 gallons it's no big deal.
The main thing is no more heavy lifting.

Glad you found an easy solution! Here's mine - I don't even bother with dechlor for top offs. I know... I like to live dangerously! Our water supply is chlorinated at a low level, no chloramines, so I just stopped worrying about it. If I were doing a major refill, I wouldn't take the change, but five gallons in a 100 gallon pond - I wouldn't even worry about it.

That's just me though... do what makes you comfortable!

if your tap water ONLY contains chlorine, this will work but most city water now has chloramines in it and that takes minimally 30 days to gas off.
