I have gotten so many good ideas from this forum.
@haver79 posted a picture a couple years ago of her pond in August and it is gorgeous so it motivated me to change out some of my plants so I could have some color later in the year.
I also did not have good growth of my water lilies until people here suggested that I plant them in kitty litter. Very happy with my lily pad growth now.
Others posted about the birds using their stream and it got me to thinking that there was no place for the birds to get to my pond because it is netted. I placed some rocks in the water fall box this year and sure enough I am getting many birds taking a drink.
And lastly, since @addy1 has been posting about her bees, I have planted some asters and more liatris this year.
Here is my pond today from my patio window.

hey T i take offense to that .But I feed and provide water for my deer and they only steal the apples they can reach off my apple trees .I don't think they like plums or peach's because they don't touch them .They love me and love watching me mow the grass .I provide them with bedding also in the woods and they provide me with babies in the spring that I can enjoy watching frolic in my yard .

You mentioned netting. I can't see it. If it is there in this pic it is so good, what did you use? I don't have a problem, yet, but I want to be ready if I need to.

Thanks @Gemma . Don't really know why that fish died. Didn't lose any other fish, and he looked fine.

I have one that is 11 years old and two that are 8. I think it is just genetics. My koi also aren't very large. Two of them are about 12"-13", the other is maybe 8".

Thank goodness for the pond breather. My pond has been totally iced over for 2+ weeks, but there is still a trickle of water going through the pond breather. I am hoping in 5 days when it is suppose to warm up to above freezing that the hole in the ice kept open by the aerator reappears.

This is what the pond looked like December 13 (and what it usually looks like most of the winter):

This is what it looks like now (and has been for over 2 weeks):
