Just finished a good sized pond out back of our house in Walton County, GA (between Atlanta and Athens). 15 by 11, 24" deep in the center. Brought in some big boulders to place around it, plus lots of rocks from a nearby creek. Has 1050 gpm pump and 16" waterfall weir. Bought some 38 cent goldfish from Walmart this afternoon to test out its fish friendliness. We have 5.5 acres here, and I keep bees. 7 hives this year. I'm sure the bees will love the spashing water.

Glad you joined, would love to keep bees, but no clue on how to do it. And hate being stung. Most of the plants I put in are bee friendly, we have tons.

Nice pond and I too like that nice sitting rock you have there! Wish we had more bees here. Some people here get mason bees

I figured it had to do w/ bees John cuz I went back and re-read his post and the only thing different from everyone else here was the bees.
And one of these days.........."To the moon, John to the moon!" You will have to prepare for your selenology tests before you leave.
Well if nothing else I will learn the meanings of many new words Mr Smartypants!

Welcome! I love the pond, you have done a great job! It's amazing the enjoyment that comes with a pond :)

I also would like to keep bees but freak out like a ferral cat going for a ride in the car any time they get near me :( I don't see it in my future.

However, I do get a lot of bees on the pond in the summer, they seem to love buzzing around water hyacinths... I think they land on the leaves and get a drink out of the pond. I have rescued many floating bees from the pond too. I hope that it brings me good karma so they will stay away from me and keep my fruits and veggies producing great.
