As mentioned earlier, my love affair with goldfish goes back to my childhood in my experiences of some classic goldfish icons. I'll post a few [with commentary] ... feel free to add your own.

For today ... here is Cleo, Disney's adorable little fantail of Pinocchio fame:

Notice the red lipstick.

Second for today is that heroic goldfish, who tried to warn the naughty kids from The Cat in the Hat fame ... his angst was palpable:

Third and last for today is an interesting goldfish from the Griffin and Sabine saga; this was an illustration with no narrative:

Did you ever notice how fantails wiggle through the water as opposed to gliding?

More tomorrow ...

Thursday: Matisse Goldies

Henri Matisse could very well be my favorite of the French impressionists. He was the first to incorporate details of decor into his colorful and charming motifs.

Have a look at his goldies:

Above I love not only the goldfish ... but, also the glimpse of a turquoise wicker chair.

I love cats, as well. My cats never bothered my pond ... probably because I keep a screen over it.

More later ...

Friday: Claude Monet

His lyrically lush and romantic water gardens in Giverny:

My favorite Matisse is a similar young woman with a goldfish bowl, at the Art Institue of Chicago.
Check out artist Joseph Raffael's koi and pond watercolors. I've admired his work for many years.

Thank you, Sarah ... I shall do that.

Is one of these three your favorite?
