My goldies don't eat the parrots feather but they will devour Anacharis, duckweed and some other little weed things that I found in a ditch around here. I don't know about Koi :regular_waving_emot

koi would most likely devour anything and i beleive i read that duckweed was a goldfish favourite

You are partially right. My koi have never eaten my duckweed. But I have had koi not eat my water lettuce and then the next batch did. None have bothered my hyssop, taro, papyrus or parrots feather.

it could just be a personal preference, maybe some koi like some foods and some koi like other foods

well they do eat snails so carnivorous also.

Goldfish and koi are omnivores and some times they are caniballas too so I guess big fish eat small fish lol

No I would not think so because the shells would be much too hard and too big to fit into their mouths

yeah they would as long as they can find them and get at them, but i don't think that they would go for them if they were fed.

I was referring to koi eating snails, they do, even the large trapdoor snails. Goldfish (well in my pond) don't, they may be eating the small ones. It is really hard to tell when you can't do a snail occupancy count..............laughing

I have a bunch of trapdoor snails. They are great since they do not reproduce by the thousands. I have seen more of them killed by Comets. My Koi inside never seem to mess with them. And a comet or 2 to the mix and next thing you know there are entrails everywhere. I guess it will be different for everyone.
