Hi, we are just in the planning stages and I have tons of questions like what's the stocking rule of thumb for comet goldfish like how many gallons or square feet per fish? If I wanted to plant a shrub or a small tree nearby, how far away should it be and if there are anyones I should avoid in terms of tree roots invading the pond? Where can I find a good solar set up?

Anyway, I can ask these as I go along, but not right now.

Thanks
Scruffy

Filtration, Circulation, Aeration all contribute to the level of population.

Backup systems in case you lose a pump are important as well. I have two pumps going 24/7 in mine.

I planted several trees around mine that may some day be a root problem. When that day comes, I will simply cut that root. The trees provide shade and look good around the ponds.
