Is this a weed or a pond plant?

Its the green one with purple flowers, I repotted my marginals in the spring and this plant seems to have grown like mad! Could anyone identify it?

it's preety but never saw one like that I know the one behind it here they call it strawberries and cream .Was it in with that plant as an extra or do you think a bird could have dropped a seed that grew .

If you like it and it doesn't try to take over than it's a plant...................if it becomes aggressive and try's to kick all the other plants to the curb then it is a weed :LOL:

A weed is a simply a unwanted flower. I like that, I would let it be and see what it does. Some of my favorite plants in my yard many around here consider weeds.

We have tons of ground cover weeds, but some of them have pretty flowers, so now they are flowering ground covers............lol

We have those in various spots around the property. I refer to it as a weed. When It dies off, the stems are like coat hanger wire. It doesn't spread much that I've noticed.

We get it mainly in the rocks of our garden borders.

Looks like Four O'Clock (Mirabilis nyctaginea). If so, it should bloom only in the afternoon. John
