If you put lillie pads from a canal in the pond do they have to be potted or can they just float on the top

If you are talking about picked leaves, they will die. If you are talking about the whole plant (roots and all), you will need to pot the whole thing correctly in a netted type basket and use pee gravel for the best growth results.
