Wow! Those are gorgeous!
I had no idea lotus grew that tall. I though they sat on the water surface like lillies.
At what depth should they be planted?
I've had bad results with lillies. Between my fish eating the stems and having them planted too deep, they never did well. I guess I could have corrected the depth problem by sitting them on something like a milk crate.

The surface of the dirt is 12 inches below water level, the kitty litter is 1.5 feet in depth, the lotus are growing free. They are in a 300 gallon stock tank.
If you put them in a pond, they need some containment, they send out runners and will take over. I had one break free and I had a ton of runners to pull out of the pond and that was a mini.
