Has anyone had experience with Lotus var. Baby Doll? I got one this spring from Lilypons (http://www.lilypons.com/Baby-Doll-Ships-Spring-13/productinfo/24806/), along with a Lotus var. Momo Botan. The latter is blooming quite freely. The baby doll hasn't even produced any buds/flowers yet. Does this variety bloom a lot later? Or since this is a new "transplant" (both were shipped bare root), does it need a year to get "settled in?" My Lotus var. Chastity, which I divided this spring I think is done blooming; I presume it's getting over transplant shock too (last year it bloomed in to August)?

Mine bloomed like crazy last year, new tuber just planted, this year only one blossom. It does have leaves but just the one flower.
I just discovered one bud. Hopefully it's just a late bloomer and more blossoms are coming. Knowing my luck though, it'll bloom when I'm on vacation next week- sigh...

lol I am on my second bud, it is taking it's time this year. Mine is white, is was supposed to be red, oh well

Addy1, are you referring to Momo Botan, which is red? My momo is on it's 3rd or 4th bloom, with 4 buds in development.

Lotus can be cranky about blooming when temps whistle over 95f.
You may have to shade the plant or wait for cooler weather to see a lotus perk up

When I bought them, I was told they where red, which is what I wanted, thought they where called baby dolls, but could be wrong.
The first bud is developing slowly. It'll probably bloom next week when I'm on vacation. I did just find another bud, so hopefully this variety needed to get settled before it started blooming, or not so hot weather (mid-90s again). So far, I'm very impressed with Momo Botan (and hardy liiy helvola).
