Water Temp. is 35 Deg. Fish are just hanging out in one place not moving. If the pond water was wormer maybe the fish would like it better and move around more.

Right. I do wonder though how your water is 35 degrees in Georgia. Ours is about that in Chicago and we're in the midst of one of the colder, snowier Novembers that I can remember.

Yes cleared up.When the installer put the large stones around the pond they were full of brown dirt.It rained the next day and all of the dirt washed into the pond. So i emptied the pond, filled it up but all

Oh, OK. I was confused because this thread is about “pond heater.” I think you have another thread about water quality— maybe you could post this update there, for continuity.

You said the water temperature was 35 degrees on Wednesday - that's 4 days ago. Now it's gone up 20 degrees? Are you in a heat wave? Water temperatures that fluctuate that much in a short period of time would be problematic for fish.

When the water was 35 the air temp was 27 at night. Both of my bird baths were frozen. The temp"s that day went up to 46 by 3:00. It has been raining for the last 3 days. This is the Water temp now.
Just remember the pond is only 19" deep 600 Gal.with a 13ft. long surface x 5ft wide.

The pond is quite shallow, now I am wondering if he might need a heater especially w/those fast temp changes? Or maybe not have so many water falls going at the same time? Never dealt w/such a shallow pond before myself.

What are the problems with having a shallow pond. And having 3 waterfalls.

Well nothing when it's not real cold. The issue might come when the current of the water moves the colder water above down below where it might be a bit warmer for the fish. Maybe turn off 2 of them and let only one continue. Perhaps someone else may have some more info on this subject w/shallow ponds in cold weather?

We will get Temp's in the low 30's. but only for about 2 t0 3 hours. Depending on how much liner is left around the pond i will try to get about 2/3 inches.
