That parrots feather is beautiful, Addy! Wonder if it will survive in the ground, if it roots there, but bet it will. I have water parsley that has gone over the bog wall and to the ground. Is it the stuff that is invasive if it gets to your gardens? I turned it back into the bog, but just wondering. I think it was the chameleon plant that was invasive, but I don't think it survived, or at least I don't see any. The clover and penny wart has taken over pretty much. :)

Addy does it survive the winter in the pond? If so I am going to have to get some of that from you next year.

I didn't put any in this year tmann. The winter was not a bad winter, we did drop to 8, the little ponds did freeze. The parrots feather was real pretty frozen up, looked dead when it melted, then as it warmed it starting growing.

I have some in one "pond" more like a small aquarium, in the stream, shallow, maybe 1 foot deep, maybe 18 inches long that parrots feather has survived two winters.

Will gladly send you some now if you want, or wait till spring when it starts to regrow. The parrots feather in the 4 ponds was from one bought bunch, it is doing well.

The red stem, I just picked up, don't have a whole bunch of it.

I got red stemmed parrots feather last year, but was told (by someone on here) that it is not hardy, but the green stemmed is. I thought mine was dead, too, but it came back as well. I got some more, too, before my other came back, thinking it was dead. I'll be interested to see if the stuff in my stream comes back, or dies, since when I turn off the stream, most of it will dry out to an extent, just 3 small pools. Also have some in the deeper pool at the bottom of my waterfall, so if nothing else, hopefully that will live.

ce everything I read says zone 6-11. The person I got it from (she sales plants) is in zone 6 and grows it there. So will wait and see if it survives.

thanks tmann, we have no mosquitoes, minimal flies, gnats have not been bad. Either the carnivorous bog is helping or the pond bug eating critters are helping.

I love the look of the plants, they really filled in this year.

Addy, I just love your Pitcher Plants, I have tried and tried to grow them but they alway die, just don't have the warm humid air they need and the season is just to short here. Did you know that the Pitcher plant is a "true bog plant"?
