I love that heron statue, Tim. I am on the lookout for one myself! JW is right, though, that they do deter, except for mating season. I don't have any water around me except my farm pond, and I figure they probably have plenty to eat there, so no need to come to my backyard to fish, right?
Your place is beautiful! Sissy is right, that's a really cute birdhouse! Make me one, too, Sissy, would you?! :) I've never tried my hand at woodworking. Too many other projects these days.
Tim, I finally got my waterfall up and running on Sunday. Everytime something new is added to our ponds, it's another joy to watch! Great job! If this heat ever slacks up, I'll be giving you a shout to come see your place.

Thats the way my luck usually runs J.W., lol. Sissy, I built that last year from cedar boards my brother had sawn out of giant hi line power poles(he's an electrical lineman) he had about 6 poles custom sawed into 1 inch thick boards--some of the best looking lumber I ever saw--who would of thought...--out of power poles. It sets just outside of my Sun Porch and I get just as much enjoyment setting in my recliner in the winter months watching all of the birds as I do watching the fish right now. I added a cedar suet holder I bought at Walmart to it for the wood peckers and between the suet and the black oil sunflower seeds I have a bird riot all day everyday thru the winter months. I have a pic of a Birdhouse Church I made out of Aluminum that I thought would hold up for years--all the others Ive made thru-out the years have held up well except for needing painting once in a while--this one did well for 3 years but this summer for some reason something--squirrels I think ripped the little finch sized holes open to get inside for some reason--the bird eggs maybe?--don't really know why, regardless I will have to take it back down and see if I can repair it---looks like crap right now.

hmmm heron mating with metal heron will they make little invincible babies that nothing harms .If you shoot at them the ricochets back and every one has to duck or get hit .If you have a bad neighbor though it may work for you .One way to get rid of them yell duck after the bullet hits them ,Well I did yell duck not my fault I said it to late .

Nice work sheetmetalman, maybe the squirrels thought there was food in there, I don't think they go for eggs, but raccoons would.

I talked to my wife, Addy and she said her and my daughter were setting on the deck yesterday and watched a squirrel leap from a tree about 6 feet away and crawl in like he owned the place--still cant imagine why it would think an aluminum birdhouse would be his kind of bachlor pad, lol

Spoke to a man a year or two back who had a heron problem. Seems he put his heron decoy out in the spring and the next morning a real one was trying to mate with it! :yikesu: John

Your waterfall hillside looks great and is filling in nicely and your filter looks great .Little dogs have big hearts and big attitudes and not afraid to show it to everyone and everything around
