I have a net over my pond, it’s black and has something close to 1cm squares. I would like to switch to a transparent net. The picture below shows the net just over the surface.

I think the garden is too small for a Herron to land. What do you think of this below to stop cats?

Thanks, Tim

We have feral cats, they only drink from the pond, never go after the fish. Herons a different story.

Do your cats go after your fish or are you worried about them falling in there?

I don't think your black net is noticeable against the dark water and had to look twice at the first picture. What is the transparent net made of, you have to be careful of " plastic" type nets that tangle birds and wild life, at least more than fiber nets.

I don’t know but there are a lot of cats in the area.

The black net doesn’t look good, so if cats were to be an issue I’d like an alternative.

It’s very ugly in real life…

Do seagulls come to your pond? Sounds like you don't really need a net if they don't. Cats don't usually bother a pond but I guess there are exceptions like my one cat that scooped a fish out and left it to die by the side of the pond. She did not eat it tho.

I sometimes put food out near it and they come down.

I have removed the net as a test!
