Pond Vacuum

though not worth writing home about, i thought i would post some pics of a diy siphon pond vacumn.
it needs a wider, longer, and more flexible outlet hose.
the handle is a plastic tube as is the vacuum part.
the side supports are a plastic hanger cut down.
the black vacumn tube is made so the front is open and the back is closed when slide forward.

it's a siphon. by running the outlet hose downhill to any degree, one can apply a burst of suction to the end, stop,
and then water will flow thru it. like siphoning gas from a tank.

I would think that a siphon would have very little application as a pond vacuum considering the typical make-up of sediment.

i understand. i made it to see if i could vacuum the algae from the pea gravel in the water kiva.
