My gut told me to walk out to my nest boxes today, and I'm glad I did.

I don't know if they'll move in or not, but I'm glad they're here today. I'm kind of at a catch 22 right now.
House Sparrows have been such a problem this year that I put wood on the front of my nest boxes to make the entry hole smaller, which can help deter sparrows blue still allow wrens and tree swallows to move in. Of course, the year I do that is the year that bluebirds show up. They need larger holes. I'm not sure how to win.

Oh, that is a dilemma. We had a pair visit & check out our box, but they didn't opt to move in. :( I know that our heavily wooded property really isn't their favorite type of environment, though, so I just try to be happy when one or two decide to come by & pay us a visit.

We had a turkey last month, some ducks and a Baltimore Oriole recently and a squirrel that's like family!

I saw a pair of Orioles back at my feeder the other day, prob the same pair as lady pat year, I got their feeder all set up the next day. I use Welch’s Passion Fruit Juice in the cup, and I bought a few nice oranges, they love both. I can’t seem to get a pic.

About 18 months ago we moved into a house with a huge lawn, lots of windows, and a nice sprinkling of various trees and shrubs all around! We noticed bluebirds in the neighborhood, so decided to put up a BB nest box for the first time ever. After weeks of research....we found the perfect spot in the backyard. Put up the box. Two days later, THERE WAS A NEST IN THE BOX! Before too long we had 5 eggs. Now we have 5 of the cutest little naked baby birds you have ever seen! This shot was when they were newly hatched, so still a little lethargic. We’re checking the box about twice week.

There are actually 3 birds tending to this brood, both parents and what is probably a juvenile from the previous brood. We’re learning so much!
