My nephew who had a brain tumor removed when he was 3 yrs old had to have lots of horrible treatments afterwards and he has been relying on the M.M for several yrs now as it provides pain relief for him. He has lots of joint issues and aging issues from all his hormones being out of whack. The treatments stopped his growth and he had to take many meds to help him grow. He smokes the stuff but I wish he would switch to the oil kind as it might help him more. I think he enjoys the high tho that he gets from smoking it and I don't believe you get that from the oil.
You bet you do! If it has THC in it, you'll get high.
The oil that Rick Simpson supposedly uses to cure cancer is made by extracting the oil from the flower buds where all the THC, and that concentrates the THC.That is different them hemp oil which you can buy in health food stores which is just extracted my pressing the seeds, and the seeds contain no significant amount of THC.

@Mucky_Waters did not know that about the medical oil making you high also. Do they know if the smoke from M.J damages your lungs? I would think it would.

I'm sure just about any smoke will damage your lungs with enough exposure. But all "drugs" come with some bad side effects, and that includes pharmaceuticals.
I listened to a radio show once about prescribing medical marijuana, the MC opened the line to users and doctors who prescribe it. There was one doctor who was able to put it in a nutshell. He says he frequently prescribes various medications for his patients for things like pain, nausea, and depression. In every case they always have a multitude of medications they can prescribe for the each of the various ailments, and they'll try the medications they know to have the least side effects first. If those don't work they'll go on to trying other things that might have more side effects, or in some case the patient might build up an immunity or have a negative reaction to the first drug so they must try something else, and so on. The idea is, and this is the most important part, is to be able do something for the patient so that they are able to cope with what ever problem they have. He went on to say in the case of patents with pain they often have to prescribe some strong medications that come with some very serious side effect, and can be very damaging to the certain organs when taken for prolong periods. He' said that does his best to get his patients off these damaging drugs and found that some of his patients were able to deal with their pain by just smoking a little pot. He said that he felt this was a much better alternative to those hard core pain killer drugs for long term use, and therefor a better "medicine".

@Mucky_Waters I am fortunate that I am very healthy and can rely on small amts of Curcumin to resolve some arthritic pain for strenuous activity. I agree w/ that doc you wrote about tho if the pot helps people and they don't overdo it and can live a full happy life as pain free as possible then let them ingest or smoke it. Ingesting would seem to be the most healthy way to go it would seem. I have not heard of any indications that ingesting harms the body unless of course I suppose if one took too much they could run a muck and knock themselves silly.

Yeah the "Cures Cancer" title to those links is quite misleading, I'm not seeing any cases where cancer is being cured, just a lot of studies that show some potentially positive results.

Where did you hear (read) that news?

Speech from the throne.

"To that end, the Government will introduce legislation that will provide greater support for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault; that will get handguns and assault weapons off our streets; and that will legalize, regulate and restrict access to marijuana"

Well shucks, and were soooo close to winning the war on drugs. :p

Seriously though, it will be interesting to see how the government tries to restrict it once it's legalized. Unlike alcohol or tobacco, pot is the easiest thing to grow.
What are they doing in Washington and Colorado to restrict it?

I like the idea of selling it through existing liquor store outlets.
There is already a good system in place for not selling to minors.

I don't like what I've seen so far with "pot shops" that I've seen in the news.
We also need to get our banking system set up to accept deposits from pot sales.
