Skippy filter question

I have a 275 gallon skippy filter that I run 2" into the bottom and 2" out from the top. I have the filter packed with snow fence. I have no problem maintaining the flow to the watrfall, in fact, I have to turn the valves a little to slow the out flow down.

What is a “ Weirs” ? I agree about wasted space when using the precut round hole. Trying to find something that will work for the output water.
