Do to debris I wouldn't go less than a 3' drain.
I had a 4" plugged once.

DoDad, what do you recommend as a good solid BD these days. I've been researching the koi toilet I. I would like something with aeration I think.

What are the suggestions for a solid BD?

For the money the koi toilet I is very good, I have 2 in my new pond.

thanks for the suggestions, Mabe im just a cheap ass but i can't justify buying a $200+ plastic drain. I'll c if i can come up with something else but i don't want it to to leak so i might just scratch the whole idea on that bottom drain. I still have a month till i start digging so we'll c
