Same here , if your pond is brand new then you can plant with some of the spi k s that came with the plants. If you have dirty water or heavy fish load then wah off the soils gently and then plant.

So Bog 1 is on and running and it's only been a week but you can see the difference already.

Had a few hiccups. The outlet was too small, and placed too high so I added another and lowered the original. Thought I might have a leak but it seems to be drying out now, must of been where the water overflowed at the beginning. Have only planted 1 reed so far as all the tinkering has meant moving the gravel about so much. Just need to replace a few bricks and pretty it up a bit with some timber and it's done. Very happy with it. Massive thank you to everyone one here who suggested it and helped with advice and comments. I'm grateful to you all.

Washed all this out of a ton of gravel, plus whatever went down the drain. Glad I did it but won't be doing it for the next one.

wonderful! I just saw this thread, so sorry for my ignorance, but how does the water return to the pond?

Hi

In #77 3rd pic down, top right hand corner you can just see 2 pipes. I originally only had one (pic 2) and had to add the second because the return was too slow. Gravity does the work, they are around 10 - 12 inches above the pond water level
