That's why I don't mind a harsh winter either. Last year we had one of the worst winters in recent years...but all that snow made for a very green spring and summer and a fantastic gardening season. I think I had to use the lawn sprinkler maybe 3 times last year. There was so much water in the ground from the snow melt.

6a is probably average winter, but I've seen it -24F here once in 30 years, and -10 to -15 at times

Here in northern AZ today has been sunny at times, but spitting snow at other times. I looked out the window at one point and it was snowing with the sun shining. It's been pretty nasty the last few days, first it snowed 8", then rained for several hours even thru most of the night. It then turned to snow again and we wound up with nearly a foot on the ground. I'm thankful for the snow, it's been a warm dry winter thru most of Jan. & Feb. The ground was bare since the snow from the New Years storm melted.

The photo was from today from my front porch.

Same here except up to 12 inches of snow, starting tonight. And maybe next week my pond will finally melt!

36 F here now. We're supposed to get up to 9 inches of snow, beginning this afternoon. Thankfully we managed to pull back the net from most of the pond yesterday. Temps are rising next week, so maybe I'll be able to check on my fish!

15°F today but next week may be a huge step in the right direction.
38°F looks great on monday, but 47°F looks great on Tuesday. Even so, 50°F looks the best on Wednesday! It's been so long since I've seen temps that warm. If we even get close it will be great. Gotta melt all this snow before it really feels like Spring.

We have the warm daytime sunshine held prisoner here. We would share some but the chain isn't long enough :X3:

Heavy fog rolling in, warm rain hitting cold snow, making fog. Tonight the cold comes back and it all changes to snow.
