Remind me to never mess w/those wasp creatures @GBBUDD ! I see them flying around here once in awhile but so far they haven't bothered me. Are those the longer bodied ones w/the skinny waist?
I just did a search and I think what we have here are not Yellow Jackets but are Paper Wasps cuz the nests ours make have holes like in this photo below. They say these are not as wicked in attacking as the Yellow Jackets. The one that got my toe in Michigan could have been a Yellow Jacket.

yup sure looks like them alright. And yes they are not overly aggressive. Yes on the skinny waist it's more like there two parts connected by a thread. But trust me they have a nasty sting.
From what I know around here anyways yellow jackets here prefer to nest underground. I have had tbat pleasure as well as a kid stepping on a nest half way up to my knee. And trying to out run anything that can fly is pretty much pointless. But run you must.

We just started another wood cutting project. So much wood! My hubby cuts and I roll it away, then we will load up the rounds, take home and split and stack in the woodshed. There are many more stacks of trees laying all over on this property. The guy who lives here is giving it to us for free.

That large trunk would make awesome patio blocks!

Hobbies three sons came out here, for the first time we had all three here, two of the sons have never been out. I think they are finally over the divorce that happened 12 years ago.

While showing them the yard we spotted a tiny fawn walking near the flowers, tiny! It walked through the fence and disappeared in my flowers. They can lay so still, they hide well.

Then walking out of the basement door, see a wren nest with 4 eggs, currently, then I saw mom sitting on the nest. Guess we need to not walk out as much as possible. She is 2 feet from the door, nesting on a old dish network dish. I put a cam on her, but the nest is deep and you can barely see her.

We pulled honey frames today, four hives.....................so darn hot! Right as I went to get more boxes I walked by the hot tub pond to see if any lily had opened and one had. Wow what a deep deep red, the picture does not do it justice.

No blooms from mine yet.
We are slaving away cutting and stacking wood today. Someday we won't be fit to do this anymore. Wonder how long that will be,lol? Not that I want my body to fall apart but this is getting old :dead:

Had my first lily bloom it was quite the surprise, as the lilies realy didn't do so hot last year. I think my water is not calm enough for them to love the conditions.
That red is killer addy, are the tropical or are they Hardy ?

Mine are all hardy, I do have a few that are hybrids, tropical that survive the cold. I make sure they are deep in the water over winter.
This is the first time I have seen this red.

^^^ and they look so big on the cam! I have gotten pics of them thinking they are huge, go out and see this tiny little spider.

Kitchen honey extracting, it sure takes over! This is what we baby the bees for.
We pull the frames and put them in coolers, after brushing the bees off. Then once extracted they go into the clear tub to be put back on the hives for the bees to "clean up" They eat up all the honey drips left. We leave it on the hives for about 2 days then freeze and store for next year.

Lordy this are chaos here. For those of you who pray, pray for my co worker Mel. Her son was in a bad wreck, currently they think he won’t make it. Bleeding on the brain, infection, possible brain dead. He’s in his early 20s I think, but no parent should ever have to consider pulling the life support plug on their kid.
We keep getting rain. I’ve just decided it’s best to leave my car parked at the neighbors, the mile hike each way may hurt, but it’s good for me.
