Hi all weather today very windy so we only managed 5 hours.
Photos of progress so far, took down front wall today, cleared gravel and base hogging, got about 20 blocks to clean up tomorrow.
New window frame and glass for shed, almost made plus hangman hangers x two for waterwheel.
So digging starts tomorrow.

Whiskey, Your project is coming along nice. I got your PM on the viewing window and will be watching your build closely! This should be very interesting and educational to say the least. I frequent multiple forums although I really consider this one my home. LOL On one of the more serious Koi forums pond depth has been a topic of interest lately. For many years it was thought that the deeper the pond the better the girth growth, as this gives the swim bladder more room to expand and contract under pressure and it give the fish more swimming depth. Well from what I have been reading from some that have ponds from 12' deep to 4' deep that they aren't seeing those results. Most are reporting that the Koi only use the deep depth during the most coldest and hottest temps and not so much for swimming. Most of the more serious Koi keepers reported back that they find 5'-7' deep to be the best for growth vs veiwing pleasure. after about 6'-7' deep your not going to be able to see the koi well unless 100% pure clear water. So long story short, as for depth 5'-7' seems to be the depth of choice from most of the koi keepers that responded and several of these were folks that actively show their fish, again another reason they like this depth is it's easier to catch the fish for transport, measuring, and inspecting.

Whiskey, I see that your boardwalk is grooved. Did you buy the wood like this or did you do this? Is it to help keep traction when it is wet or snowy? Project is coming along really nice and can't wait to see how your viewing window turns out.

With the weather messing w/ you and not being able to work as long as you would like you seem to be making quite enough progress to me. This is fun to be able to watch! I wanna see how that window comes out also. Keep on w/ your good work whiskey!

Hi all
Progress very slow due to weather, but over the past few days a new window in workshop to let light in over new filter unit when built.
Photos of new window, and new footings boards inplace and a clearer site.
Tomorrow start on the other footings plus bottom drain channel.

hi everyone today tidied up site, dug out bottom drain run, tomorrow will start sloping sides to middle, due to drains running under plot weve had to alter our depth to around 1mt on sides to 1.5 in middle ,hopefully, may go for ledge, then slope to deep as dare, will see how deep as i dig untill i hit chalk...then its all stop....sad really.
Weather changing over the next week or so, to very cold weather with chance of snow...so cancelled hire of cement mixer until weather more settled.
All building bits come tomorrow, blocks 440x215x215 for window, blocks 440x215x100 for rest of build, ballast, cement and ironwork for window support, i will try get some photos.
