LOVE IT!!!! The only thing I was disappointed in was that you didn't narrate on the video. I have to believe I would have loved to hear your accent and voice. So, when you get pumps up and running, I vote your wife takes a video as you describe everything, and then shows "the man" in action! The water is so crystal clear, can't wait to see waterwheel running, and fish swimming merrily past the window. What a project this has been, and almost completed. Way to go, Whiskey!!! Three cheers for you! :beerchug: :claphands: :highfive:

will seam funny next year putting koi in of different sizes and watching them grow.

will allow pond to run over winter to see how things fair..........roll on spring.

Sieve looks to be working well.

How are you liking the reed roof? Is the reflection on the water OK for viewing fish? I'll need shade.

Fish in the pond, how exciting! But, we have to wait for spring for the koi? Well, that sounds very safe to me, so I guess I'll be happy to wait. :) Can't wait for the water wheel to be up and running! Need video to capture it's movement. Great project, Whiskey, sure have enjoyed watching it come together.

waterbug

sieve working fine for a static one, draw is just enough for both pumps [18000 + 3500 ] totat 21500 litres per hour
my internal sizes 2.9 x 4.0 x 1.5 = 17400 litres/3828 gallons uk

now if i cut or lower weir bar would that give me more volume of water to draw from chamber, ie another pump if needed.

If I understand correctly....the main pond overflows the weir bar and over the sieve and into a 2.9 x 4.0 x 1.5 tank. 2 pumps pull water out of the tank and back up into the pond. If that's true then lowering the weir bar won't give you more water volume over the weir or in the tank. The amount of water being pumped is the only thing controlling that. The size of the tank vs the pump size is what controls volume. The bigger the pumps the bigger the tank has to be.

There is a trick however. Once the pumps are on and the tank draws down you can add water to the pond/tank to bring the tank level up. That will stay stable except for evaporation. The downside to this is when the pumps are turned off the tank or pond will overflow. No problem if there's an overflow to handle that.

Since all evaporation shows up in the tank you can get a huge drop in water level in the tank. So that's where I normally place the auto fill.

sizes given were pond sizes in metric [sorry]
im glad i stuck to my discision, to up grade the skimmer with a 9000 lph because i have tee`d off to feed quarantine bay with an inline control tap, so to adjust the flow and the other side of tee, feeds extra water to water wheel bay, to give more flow.

i understand now ......over tank size ......i was lucky with container [water tank] seems to be made for the job in hand.

I see koi!!!! I'm still patiently waiting to see the waterwheel in action, Mr. Whiskey! Glad to see a few koi in there, soon there will be more, I bet! You will get too anxious to await putting the other fish in there and not wait until spring, my bet anyhow.
