I just sold my one ugly koi and 5 shubunkins! Didn't think I could get rid of her but she was a butterfly koi and has some blue coloring. Woho!! one down and 13 to go!!

I use an external pump, an Artesian 1/8 HP, gives me 3030 GPH at 4' head, max watts 152. I can't even tell it's hooked up by my power bill.

So you can tell they are breeding cause it smells like fish?

When they are spawing, it is impossible to miss. The males are chasing the females and will not stop until she has laid all her eggs. If you are relying on smell alone, you may miss the whole thing. Mine have spawned 3 times this year and not once did I smell anything. I watched the whole process.

its hard to describe the smell .... but that happens after they spawn
