Thought I would share this article from 1990 AFM Magazine on Pond filtration as the article has excellent detail on how to calculate filter size based on ammonia per day based on Koi size. Hopefully the pic's are big enough to read. You can also go to photobucket to zoom on the graphics.

Great article! Thanks... Got me thinking...

Tested my pond water with higher resolution API test kit. 1 bottle API kit measures absolutely zero. 2 bottle version measures something in between 0 and 0.25ppm. DOH! Then I measured the last filter in the system and has no measurable ammonia. Something is telling me that 10x turnover rate is not good enough. I probably need to look for a bigger pump. :-(
