Just ordered the 10lb bucket of cleaner. Lots of leaves in both ponds. Also ordered 14lb bucket of food, $100! Fish eat better than we do!

What would spring be like if i didn't owe the Koi Dealers a few bucks, after a long winters nap buying from my living room on the live feeds.

I'm eager to try this! My DIY pond is working well, considering I'm the one who built it - a total amateur! But in hindsight, I see definite areas where I could have designed it differently to have more and more precisely directed water flow. That has resulted in a good bit of collected debris and mulm.
I now have about 20 small goldfish in the backyard (largest) pond. The owls picked off the big beautiful ones that I bought a couple of years ago - so good sense tells me I shouldn't go back and buy more. But I really want to! It is fun, though, to see the little shubunkin babies and what kind of coloration they have!
Spring in the pond is fun! Now I need to order that magical powder for a little cleaning!

I plan to use this soon but wanted to check on precautions. This is what I've gathered.
Pond Liner Damage: Some pond liners are susceptible to damage from the oxidizing effects of sodium percarbonate.
Filter and Pump Clogging: If the sodium percarbonate solution is not properly mixed and allowed to fully dissolve, it can form clumps or beads that can clog filter systems and pump intakes.
Water Quality Issues: While sodium percarbonate can improve water quality, the initial reaction can temporarily lower oxygen levels and create a buildup of decomposition products, which can negatively impact the pond ecosystem.

Anyone have any issues like this? Obviously it depends on using it in proper amounts.

Researched. Yes, baking soda and sodium bicarbonate are the same thing; they are both chemical compounds with the formula NaHCO3.

Chemical Formula:
Both baking soda and sodium bicarbonate refer to the same chemical compound, which is represented by the formula NaHCO3.

and eher's another one. While baking soda can be used in a pond to raise pH and alkalinity, it's not a primary method for cleaning or algae control and should be used cautiously.

ChatGPT explained it...not the same stuff. ;)

Yes, sodium bicarbonate and baking soda are the same thing. But sodium bicarbonate and sodium percarbonate are 2 different chemicals. Sodium PERcarbonate is the chemical being discussed here, not sodium bicarbonate.

Sodium bicarbonate is NaHCO3. Sodium percarbonate is Na2CO3*1.5H2O2. Totally different.
