The tupperware container for the biofilter has a leak at the opening for the flush valve. The container is too flexible so I think the pressure of the water pushing on it make it come loose. I will try to seal it and maybe keep it running until winter then take it apart and have the kids do a new one in the spring.

What do other people use that is stiffer? The one we are using now is about 12 gallon. For the school pond that size has worked great. I don't have a lot of room in to work with at the back of the pond.

Could you find a stiffer trash can? They have some heavy duty containers at the box stores that might be better, some have a more rigid wall to them then others.

I put 2 totes one inside the other and all you have to do is cut the handles off the one that goes inside .I always buy the heavy duty industrial ones but still buy 2

Koiguy, I looked at the one you talked about, I think I will get that one. It is a lot sturdier. The leak has done wonders for the hydrangea that is growing right next to it. :)

well at least something got to reap that reward .It is always better to go heavier duty on the container you never know .They don't make them as sturdy so they don't last and you have to buy another one .

I like the heavy stock tanks but I could not get one that is right for our small area. I would still like to clean out the pond but it will have to wait, maybe till spring. A few teachers have already asked for a couple fish to put in their classroom aqauariums. A few lucky fish will spend the winter in the warm confines of a tank.
