I'm trying to identify this pump that just died on me so that I can get as close of a replacement as possible.

The info on the sticker says:
MAX FLO 4200
18/11 (that should be Week 18 of 2011)
N-29160 (would that mean 2900 GPH @ 160W)
AC 120
160W
made in Italy

Everything that I'm seeing points to "Laguna Max-Flo 4200 Waterfall and Filter Pond Pumps – 4200 GPH – PT8256" but the form factor is different (unless I can take off that turtle shell) and the part number doesn't match (which they could have updated the part since 2011)

If you are going to a store to get the replacement (which is what I would do ) then take it with you. Often they come with housings that I need to take off to get to the basic pump (which is all I use). So I make sure it will match what I had before I leave the store.

I'm in New Mexico. Other than HD and Lowes, we don't really have stores with pond pumps.
I'll keep looking.

I took few more pics -- hopefully, it'll help ID the pump.

Found the invoice from 6/19/2012.
Webb's Water Gardens
Item: 40352
Description: Laguna PT 352 Max-Flo 4200 Electronic Waterfall & Filter Pump

So the new 4280 would be the closest replacement.

Question is: can I take that turtle shell off and just use the pump so that it fits in my Savio - SkimmerFilter?

that is the right question. Yes you can usually take the shell off. I do with my pumps as I have to fit them into a tight chamber in my filter. Most commercial pumps have some sort of shell and all the ones I have used over the year can all have the shell removed. (worst case cut it off but usually they unscrew).

I have the Laguna Max flo 4280 and I took the shell off and connected it to my pre-filter hose that goes to my waterfall. Been using it this way for a few years now w/no issues. Says it voids the warranty but oh well. It just unscrews, real easy to take off and put back on if you ever want to.

Does it look anything like this?

View attachment 122999@mario and @HARO here knows about Max flo pumps by Laguna. Maybe he has some ideas if he sees my post here and replies.
Sorry, j.w, Just got back yesterday from a three-week vacation in Newfoundland and Labrador. But I see you all managed without me. And yes, the 4200 is a great pump. Ran mine for over ten years before it needed a new impeller.
