I have an 800g goldfish pond intended to attract wildlife.

Under alert preferences, you can have a alert that someone did, but you need to look at the alerts to see it.

Weird, I have everything checked, including "Comments on your showcase item", but I've never been notified of comments on my Showcase, including yours that I'm responding to. I even clicked "Show All..." under notifications and it doesn't have a notification of your comment listed.

We'll look in to this @JBtheExplorer :)

I've done a huge upgrade of every forum component that I can think of to try and solve this :). Hopefully it was a bug and the upgrade will solve it, but please let me know if it hasn't!

Thanks for trying @Ian, but unfortunately it hasn't solved it.

JB, I get email notifications for my showcase thread. Try this:
  1. make sure you indicate ‘watch thread’ at the top of your showcase thread.
  2. then select ‘watch threads’ to see all the threads you are watching
  3. (if it says you have no unread watched threads, select ‘show all watched threads’)
  4. select your showcase item thread
  5. go to the bottom and click the arrow by the box and it will give you some options
  6. select ‘enable email notification’.
  7. Then select ‘go’.
Hope it works for you.

Sorry about that - can you let me know if the steps that @cas helpfully posted work please? If not, I'll submit a bug report and see what's happening.

Will clicking "watch thread" give me a notification here without having to check the email option? I don't use my email often so it wouldn't benefit me to get notified there, but if that gives me a notification here, that will work just fine. I never thought of trying the "watch thread" option.

If you just want an 'alert' on this pond forum, be sure you are ‘watching’ your showcase thread and then under your ‘alert preferences’ make sure the box next to 'replies to a watched thread' is checked. I have the following checked and get an alert indicated (number in red by the alert at the top right of the screen) when I sign into the forum.

Yes, as I said above, I have everything checked. I've never clicked "watch thread" though, because all of my showcase alerts were checked. I get alerts all the time, but never for comments in my showcase.

Cool! I was wondering if I should post something in the thread so you could test it. :)

JB I love the first video of the Mallard Duck. I hope it is okay to ask a question about it here - my daughter has 3 Swedish Blue Ducks and when they got into my fish pond that absolutely attacked my goldfish. They cornered them in the shallow parts and I thought they would eat them before we could get them out. Is it the species of duck?

Some ducks are fish eaters, some are not. Mallards eat vegetation, insects, things like that.
