Our tough little girl would chase it, but she can't be out on patrol by herself.

No, the heron usually comes by once or twice a year..

You are lucky, once the herons found my pond it was a daily visit, two to three times a day all summer. Finally gave in and netted the pond.

I recently purchased some 3-5 inch Brown Trout. I've never had this species before. Unlike my other fish, they are hanging out close to shore. The herons will be showing up soon. This is a concern for me.
