I'm looking for an affordable vacuum for my small pond (350 gal.).

Has anyone here used the muck vac? Any other suggestions?

Easy to use on ponds with pretty smooth bottoms. You need to make sure your water pressure is right up around 50 PSI as they suggest. Not good for working around plants and uneven bottoms, or ponds with trap door snails. I use mine for cleaning my show pools and a preform.

I also use my shop vac. Then I dip out the water with a pitcher and use it to water my plants. Very time consuming, though. LOL.

I have a shop vac for the garage because I detailing cars on the side. I might have to get a dedicated shop vac for the pond. Thanks for the advice.

What size of wet vac do you recommend?

I tried vacuuming with my 4 gallon one and it fills up really quick.

If you don't have that "pump out" attachment Addy mentioned, get a combination of big tank and low power. Cheapies often have these characteristics. That gives you a chance to get a little bit vacuumed before the tank is full. You don't need much suction to pick up organic gunk from the bottom of the pond.

It really works best with 2 people. One to run the vac and the other to do the work. You lose too much time trying to do both.

I have a rigid vac, think 16 gallons, do it by myself works fine. When it shuts off just flip on the attachment drain the vac and keep going. The plants love the pond water.
