Here are some photos of my pond. I built it about 6 years ago and since then have completely redone the small creek that leads into the pond and two years ago I redid the big waterfall. The pond is about 3,000 gallons, I have 3 koi that are around 18" and numerous gold fish.

Your pond is B-E-A-U-T-F-U-L....I am so jealous. tee hee. You did a wonderful job.

So I started on my pond deck. It is 6' wide by 5' deep. I was originally going to just do a small dock where it would extend out about 3' into the pond but changed my mind in the middle and decided to a small deck that will overhang the pond by about 24". It sits about 12" off the water, I would have liked to get it closer to 4" off but I ran into some problems with digging down. I have two sprinkler lines and a 3" drain pipe that run through that area I even had to offset my posts b/c there was a huge rock in the one hole that I could not dig around or dig it out. That is one rock that will not see the lite of day. Tonight I noticed that it blocks my view a bit from inside the house so I may have to rethink some of it. I was trying to get it done while my wife is on away on vacation.

Here are some pics.

Gonna look nice and be fun to sit on and dangle your toes in the water and watch the fish.

maybe shorten it just a little so the edge is right at the water edge. If the middle view is form the house, can see what you are saying

That's cool, always neat to be able to get out over the water a little. I told my wife I was going to cut down the railing on our deck, which currently stops bout 6" short of our pond, and extend a small portion of it out over the water and she told me not to waste my time, that deck is being torn down next year. First I've heard about it, but apparently we're getting a new deck next summer.

I am not even finished with the deck and I am already thinking of my next project. Now it will be rather simple but thinking about adding a trickle tower filter in my one creek. The water currently just comes out of a 1/2"poly tube but I am thinking of running that up into the middle of a strawberry pot or something similar. Here is a pic of where I am thinking of putting it.

Looks like a good spot to me. I'm looking for a strawberry pot also to do the same thing. I'll just set mine on the plant ledge on top of a milk crate. Did anybody decide which size rocks are best to put in those things? I'm thinking gravel is too small. Maybe rocks about the size of a quarter? You gonna put a screen or anything on top to filter out gunk before it goes down into the pot?

Saw this the other day, these cattails in my low volume creek actually have dirt about 3" from the water surface. These were just stuck into rocks last year and it seems as though the dirt is actually getting taller over the last several months. The water level never changes in this creek so it is not from the rise and fall of the water level.

Any ideas?

Looks like the cat-tail is doing good, gathering the dirt and leaf litter and making it's on sod.
I would just leave it if you don't have to move it for now cause it appears to be doing quite well! It will make cat-kins soon too that will look very nice. :)

Plants do that, gather silt etc out of the flowing water, it collects around the roots, becomes a pile of dirt. I have in my stream that have made piles of dirt.

Very very nice pictures tmann, love all that you have done.

Nice pix Tmann and see you plopped your beer bottle in the cool waters in the first two photos up above maybe to keep it cool while you shot the shots :0000000057:
