That is -6f if it were here Colleen and that is darn cold. I see some lily activity in my pond also but think it might be leftover stems w/ buds that I didn't cut off in the fall. Frozen in time ones

It felt Very cold last night, really it was down to about minus 24 Celsius, I think that is about -10 Fahrenheit or something. But it felt so cold cause of the wind chill factor.
I felt sorry for all the wild deer that come to eat the little crab apples out of the front yard, the apples are so high in the tree cause they picked all the low ones off the branches. So I trimmed some branches from the other crab apple tree that hangs over the top and middle pond and gave them some of those apples and they ate them all the other night, so I trimmed more today again and put them in the front yard. The hungry cold deer are there almost every night looking to scrounge food off my front yard. There I have done my good deed for the day! :)

Your a good woman Charlie Brown :)
Maybe you better run to the farm store and get a bale of hay and stick it out there when you run out of apples?

I just came in from trimming more branches and they cut down nice and easy, and that way I can take away thoses nasty little crab apples before they all fall into the pond. Sometimes I think I should leave the gate open to the pond for them to come and pick up the nasty apples, but I am afraid they might run over the pond. They got lots of apples now, and I will get a picture as soon as my phone charges back up. I will get "before and after" pictures after they eat them all off the pile of branches.
Last fall I was worried about picking up all the little crapapples that fell all over the grass from out front, there was like a "bumper crop" last year and I was squishing them all over the grass last fall, but they seem to have all disapeared now ....

How nice of you colleen, I have been watching herds of deer go through our yard at home, they are so hungry this winter. Even coming up the slope to graze right near the house, they seldom do that.

Not much as changed here in a week, still Suffering thru a long seemingly endless winter these days! Wait a minute!!! The thermometer up to just above freezing right now!! It must be a trick, sun must have shone on it and warmed it up. I have been tricked before thinking it was warm and then went outside and it was still freezing cold!

Just let the puppies out right now in between typing this and I see that the back door ice is melted away and there is a warm wind blowing in my face!! Maybe sping is really coming this time!! ha ha ha... I know I say that all the time, but it is the only thing I have to look forward too each year, new flowers to plant, new exciting thing to do by the pond... :shame:

I have some nice open holes in the ice, smaller than they were last week, but still open. No dead fish seen, seems all are doing fine so far.

JW I think you lucked out in the weather departmen and receive only very mild winters, and everybody else has extra cold and snow to deal with these days. (n)

Meanwhile back in Southern Alberta , we have not had much warmth yet, although we did reach +4C today, that still is barely above freezing! Right this minute we are 10 degrees Fahrenheit, -12 Celsius. Tomorrow we are supposed to get well above freezing, should reach 41 degrees!

Yes you are quite right Colleen. No matter how cold we get most everyone else across the country gets way more cold than we do. Now at a nice 45f and prediction of 50f this afternoon and clearing. In the rain now, just drizzling
