Hello, I would like to create a thread about native pond plants, specific to your area.
I will begin with Oregon, since that is where I am located:

Post your areas natives!

Some Md natives that I have ….Arrow arum (Peltandra virginica) clumping, slow grower, but eventually will spread from seed once established.

Pickerelweed (Pontederia cordata) grows like wildfire in my pond once established, took a couple years though to really take off.

Water celery (Vallisneria americana) grows like wildfire right out of the gate, great to use to soften edges of the pond to look more natural, also an excellent nutrient consumer be it in a bog or the pond proper

Waterweed (Elodea canadensis) submerged plant that grows quickly, great natural food for your fish and hiding spots for fry/micro and macro fauna in the pond .

Bunch of other ones I have but need to go out and look at the pond to remember which ones are native and not, which ones I have as well.

@seedsofnature, your post is very interesting. It makes me wonder, are there any plants only native to a specific state? Many years ago, the Nymphoides aquatica (aquatic banana plant) was thought to only be native to Florida but now we know that is not the case. The largest Red Mangrove (Rhizophora mangle) in our sunroom likes to think it is the only one in existence!

Yeah, water celery and waterweed are classic pond plants!
