The ducks have returned! Every Spring since I've lived here a pair of ducks hang around for about a month. They walk around the yards in the area, sleep, eat at bird feeders... I'm not exactly sure why they stop here, and I'm not exactly sure why they only stay a month, but its cool to see them return.

I took my 7 yr old to the wetlands yesterday. Didn't see a whole lot going on as it was later in the afternoon, but, we did see a Kingfisher. Brayden thought that was pretty cool, we had a pair of Binoculars so he could see him pretty good when he would dive into the water and bring up a fish. We also saw a few beavers, busy rebuilding after the downpours we've been having.

If you (or anyone) are ever in Wisconsin, the Horicon Marsh is the place to be. Miles and miles of marsh and hundreds of thousands of birds use it throughout the year. I went in a bad time, mid-summer, drought conditions, and still saw a bunch of wildlife. Here's a handful of photos from my day at the marsh in 2012.

Looks like a neat place JB w/ lots of critters. Those are the kinds of places I like to stop at when traveling in our camper.

It really is a neat place. A very popular place with nature enthusiasts and a great place for a family to spend a day, although in a day you can only see a fraction of the 32,000 acres. When I was there I walked a trail on the south edge and then drove to the north edge to walk a boardwalk trail. There's tons of stuff in between too that I never got to see. I want to bring my canoe there someday.

We will be traveling w/ our rubber boat and bicycles whenever we get out camping. So much to see and not much traffic on the water. Wow, 32,000 acres!
We might make it back there one of these days. Thinking Spring is the best time to go back east as I remember the humid, heat of the Summers while living in Michigan for a couple years. And lots of bebe's hatching............love the bebe's

If you're ever up in the Windsor area (across from Detroit) stop at Point Pelee National Park. HUGE wetlands, forests, boardwalks and LOTS of wildlife!
John
