lol CE I have two of the white and black, both were put into the shubbie tank, I was hoping for some nice kids. Oh well, it obviously does not want to stay there, I really can not figure out how the sucker escaped. The outflows are blocked enough to keep a fish that size in the subbie tank.

I have some really dark long finned shubbies in the big pond, really pretty, pond spawn, something is mixing with something making pretty babies.

It is a Bank Swallow, one of the smallest swallows. Found it in our bird book.

The bird has it made, it just needs to fly down, 40 feet away, sit on the camera and snatch bugs off the yarrow. Tons of bugs live on the yarrow, you can see them in the camera.
She then comes a short flight back and feeds her kids.

These shots are through the slider, I waited until she came back with some bugs.
you can see their little beaks

Cute little babies..........I grabbed a ladder and climbed up to get the shot, mom yelling at me the whole time, did it quick!

I love that bench. Did you make it or buy it? Blends right in with your flowers. I would put out more flowers but I hate weeding. It doesn't take long before they outnumber the flowers :disappointed_anim:

My late hubby and I bought them at one of those garden/home shows, in phoenix, one of the many heavy things I hauled across country to move and marry my new honey. They are made from real old wagon wheels, the seats and back are real heavy, made from a mill that was torn down. They do come apart ow you could never move them.

I have found if I put in a ton of plants the weeds have no chance, a lot of ground covers help, the seeds can't make it down to the dirt, and no sun. I still get some weeds but not as bad as when I first started. The hills away from the pond are covered with thick mulch, just can't do it right above the pond due to it possibly washing in. Those are my fight the weeds area.

Those babies are so cute. Look like old men with the hair that grows above the ears!! This is one of my weed beds. It was a strawberry bed that I still will find one or two in June. It has been taken over by money plant and poke weed. I have a calla lily that wont die.
I am finally getting a glimpse of one of my dinnerplate dahlias. Deep Purple!!2013-07-01 006.JPG

When I started my hill gardens, above the pond to be I killed all grass, weeds, etc. Used a lot of round up, but that way started with a clean slate. Same with my wild flower gardens wiped out growth then seeded. Gave all the plants a chance to grow before the weeds, grass started back up.

The pond, hill gardens I put in a ton of mulch, sure makes it easier to pull the weeds when they start growing. Most don't start up.

I go crazy taking pictures.......

Another lotus is starting to open, it has pink edging to the petals.

CE the last picture is the perry that is in the lotus tub, two of the blooms

I just got 2 plants yesterday from my friend, and I'm pretty sure they are a red and a yellow Crocosmia. She had no idea what they were, no tags, but picked them up for me because I like "different". She told me they are an annual, though. I'll have to take pic of them tomorrow. Planted them tonight, and didn't think of taking a pic to ask. Funny that you have a pic of them! The leaves of the plant look almost like an iris or lily, and they have this spike that goes up, fuzzy looking buds hanging on one side of the spike, and flowers are not open yet, but it sure looks like that pic! Thanks for pointing that out, GG! And, GG, I can't wait to see that dahlia when it opens. Wow, it will be gorgeous!
Addy, that lily is amazing and I will really enjoy it! Thanks for sending me a start of the color.
And, at the auction on Sat., the lady that died had lined her long driveway with lilies ... tall, short, every color you could think of. All of us gardeners were oooh and aaaaahing all day long. We all decided we need to go in a group, dig them all up, pull all the weeds, replant a good amount, and then share the rest!

If it is Crocosmia, it is a hardy, survives just fine over winter here. My honey said to plant lilies along the drive, but then mowing and weeding comes into thoughts! That sounds beautiful

Well, my friend just informed me that the 2 strange looking plants are "anigozanthos hybrid" and called kanga pink and kanga yellow (or maybe gold), or kangaroo paw as a common name. They are only hardy to zones 10 and 11, so no chance it will remain growing here. Darn! Oh well, I'll have to enjoy it while I can this year! One is pink, the other is yellow.
