Think the fish poop is the key! and no filter except the bog, the plants get all the nutrients.

I grabbed a quick video of my fish this am, they were hanging out near the base of the shubunkin tank waterfall. I so much enjoy watching them swim around, more fun then watching the tv below. They love to swim in and out of the lilies.

Addy, I agree about the fish poop. I went on a pond tour last year and one of the pond owners complained to me that that his water lettuces didn't grow at all and were really horrible. He felt years ago they we much better. He also explained to me that he cleaned his filter by hosing it off everyday to keep his water crystal clear. He didn't see the connection between cleaning the water too much and the water lettuces not growing.

Addy, I would love some of the star flower plant and blue forgetmenot. I know the latter is a fast grower. I would just like some color in my bog. I had some star flower, but I guess it didn't come back. I will bring it inside for winter, with other plants, if I get it going this year.
Right now, the goldfish bog has so much parsley and clover it's all green and neither of those bloom. Let me know if you would like either of these for your "collection" or maybe you already have them. Warning, though, they spread fast! This spring, when I was giving it away for postage, it was just beginning to grow. Now, OMG, it would cost far more to send it, it's so tall and thick. I'm definitely going to be pulling a bunch of it. Whether I pull it "nicely" or to get rid of it will be depending if anyone wants any of it.
Thanks! I'll PM you my address.

The white star grass came back from our winter, just sitting in a pot on the deck (a pot that does not drain) I was sure surprised to see it come back, we did drop to 10 maybe lower this winter.

As soon as we have some non rain days I will do some pulling.

Oh addy your gardens are beautiful. I love all the different plants in the pond and out of it. Your fish are so active they just dance everywhere. I think you have a talented passion for beauty. Everything looks well taken cared of. I like the different cameras that you have. I watched the groundhog one from last year and they were so sweet. I would love to have a garden like yours but I guess I would have to give my kids away to have time to work in it. lol... Just a thought....

Thanks I do love it, it is not what I would call a groomed yard, garden. The plants have taken over.

The critters love it, deer, ground hogs, rabbits, bee, birds.......... Something is munching a lot more than they have in the past. I think too high for the resident ground hog.........we already relocated one. But I have enough plants it does not really affect the flowering.

So I must have a deer that has made my yard home, don't see any prints though.

I just went out and grabbed these, the lotus are just getting ready to open

Here you can see the 50 cent easter lilies I picked up from walmart, to the left, a bunch of yarrow blooming

The day lilies are starting to open, most are rebloomers.
So far some pink, yellow, orange and rust have opened.

There are actually 4 ponds in the first photo, the lotus tub, two preforms and the big pond to the right. The plants have taken over.............wasn't there a movie about man eating plants?

To the right of the second photo you can see the small waterfall into the first preform, the lotus to the left are in the 300 gallon tank. The third pond is at the base of the post holding the camera.
