Colleen, I would guess the puppies could swim for a minute or so, but that would be it. And, neither of my ponds are "tiny puppy friendly", so like Addy's little Missy, they may be able to swim, but they could not save themselves in the water very long. No reason to teach them to swim either, as the first two are going to the big city ... Chicago! Maybe they will meet Comet Keith one day. :blueflower:

With the surgery she was getting matted, I prefer to have her hair a little longer, with her having the cotton hair rather than the silky hair she will always be kept short. I clip it to around 1/2 inch then let it grow for a month or so.

The current look of the pond and bog, the blue forget me not smells so great! The spiderwort in the front is loved by the bees. It blooms constantly when in the bog and wet.

The creeping jenny and iris are must have loved the cold, they are coming back nicely, lining the stream edges

This stream creeping jenny a mix of the green and yellow has started to bloom. I pull the excess every week, ow the stream gets blocked.

The red is weigela red prince, the white/pink is weigela florida variegata. They bloom beautifully, the bumble bees and hummingbirds both love them, the flower is too deep throat for a honey bee. Both grow like a nice shrub.

My 4getmenot is an area of 20 feet by maybe 2 feet of flowers, the aroma is just wonderful. So sweet!

Love them both! Do you have any problem with deer browsing your weigelas?

They ate everything this winter, except them. I have seen no evidence of deer grooming since they leafed out and started flowering.

Addy, I like the way you have bunches of color in different parts of your garden. Someone once told me you need to always plant things in threes. Have you heard of that?

I have heard that, and no I have not done that................That is one of the rules for a perfect looking yard/garden.

My plants sort of ended up where they are, because as I would bring a plant home I would wander the yard..................hummm where to put this one? Find a spot dig a hole dump it in. Also as the pond expanded a bunch of plants got dug up and moved. Again.........where oh where to stick this one lol I am still a plant addict, do my best to stay out of nurseries, sort of out of space in the inside yard, but do have a nice big field in the back................ except that is a deer heavy area.

Most of the plants were lowes nearly deads. A dollar or 3 dollar plant. Very few were full price. there is also a nice nursery that has a get rid of area, plants/ trees 1/4 the price, a bunch came from there too. End of season is a great time to get some really neat plants.

I have lost some from the cold this winter, the crape myrtles are coming back from the roots. Butterfly all died back to the roots, nadina slowly coming back. Anything that died and did not come back stays gone.

I do have one hibiscus it should never have lived, but it is coming back..............go figure lol

My yard is too tiny to be able to devote 3 planting spaces to one type of plant -- which seems to go against every gardening book on the planet. The only multiples that I have are what came with the house in the front yard - 2 red knockout roses, 3 pink drift roses, 3 spirea and 2 caryopteris. All the spaces are filled in with onesies here and there - although I am playing with lady's mantle to hide dying bulb foliage, so I have a few of those getting started. I like the cluttered, cottagey look, so once everything fills in, I will reassess.
