Gorgeous pics, Addy. I will have to watch for the forget-me-not to get a start of that. I love flowers that smell good.
Speaking of that, does anyone have a wisteria? Mine is blooming, and it ... SMELLS! I thought they smell good, but IMO, they stink to high heaven! I may just have to get rid of this plant. To me, it smells like my brothers house, which is a combination of mouse pee/poo and cat urine! Yuck! Is it just the variety I got, or do they all smell like this, and you're just supposed to enjoy the flowers?
I am soooo a plant addict! Just bought some beautiful deep red, pink and green/white caladiums at the grocery store. I have lots of places to put them, but as I stand back, I, too, am going to really enjoy this year. Plants I put in 3-4 years ago are maturing nicely and really filling in. Glad I have others on this site that love plants, along with our pond addictions. :)

I love the combination of colors that happen. Even on a gray cloudy raining morning.

Addy, if you EVER have to divide your non-pond plants, I'd LOVE to come over and help! I can learn a ton from you and your gorgeous gardens! Fair warning, i'll be bringing a shovel and big purse so I can sneak away with a cutting or two ;-)

They were labeled as baby blue spruce, tag said stay small, but I think they meant BABY trees lol. They have been planted for around 4 yrs now, very slow growers which is great, by the time they are BIG we will not be here.

Looks super awesome Addy! You plant like me too, I really don't have a plan and just find a spot and fit the plant in. I have been super busy in the front yard and it is coming along nicely. I found something new and exciting to plant this summer, a Red Banana plant, they may get to three meters high! I bought two for the front flower bed and just planted them. I also have planted my hubby's old corn that has only three chromosomes! The stalks are red and green and they looked so pretty last year in the back ally that I thought a small group would look nice in the front with the flowers. They are just starting to poke out of the ground. So much to do and so little time to rest....

My late hubby wanted everything to be straight lines, straight trees, straight paths, straight pond edge. Of course I told him nature and I were not straight and would never be. Everything in the yard had curves, wiggles etc, told him if he didn't like it .......redo lol. He learned to like it.

This hubby likes the look the wandering lines (he does like straight fences and paths.............but oh well he has learned to deal with curves even there)

I plant islands of everything w/ no reasoning. Only thing in a straight line are the trees along the road and back side for privacy and boy they do a good job. If I had the energy I would plant the whole darn acre w/ stuff and then there would be no more mowing, yay!

I would do that too but the vines, brambles etc would take over. They are horrible here, don't mow for a bit and here come the vines. I mow they down all of the time.

I could do it here,no vines but it would be heck to weed a whole acre. How much do you think you have covered in plants and flowers. An acre maybe? Like I said that is a lot to weed.

Around a acre plus is covered in plants. The weeds get yanked, but not to the extent of perfection, just control.

Addy, I love all your plants and would love to do more of that by us but our yard is so small we still need to keep some grassy areas for when we have parties so we can put extra tables and chairs out. We are actively looking for a smaller house on a bigger lot so someday that may change! We looked at one the other day we both liked but it was priced too high. I already figured out where the pond will go because the house was angled on the lot and there was a great corner in the back for a pond.

Plus the more plants the less the weed seeds receive light and no growth which is a big help. I like lots of mulch too and free is great from the tree limbs that get shredded.

This year I planted some winter sown seeds, then had a bunch of plants reseed themselves (dwarf coneflower, blanket flower, petunias, etc.) and now I'm transplanting all these seedlings. What fun! I'm even putting some in the wildflower garden. That way each year there will be more plants, and less weeds and grass in that area. Nothing on my property (except the deck which my son built) is straight. I love curves, and all flower beds have curves to them.
Addy, those blue spruce are the most beautiful bright gray color I've ever seen! I just bought 2, and they are no where near as light colored as yours. Wonder if part of it is your soil PH? Whatever it is, your flowers are all so gorgeous!
My bog irises bloomed before my land ones of the same type, but now I'm getting some different colors than the dark purple. I've never seen a pink one like your posted. Beautiful! I'm learning to try to find new colors each year.
