Good thing it's not every year tho! Must be hard to sell houses in that flood area even if it happens only every 10 or so years?

Colleen, glad you and your house are okay, but personal safety is way more important than property. You took a big chance by staying behind if it was a forced evacuation.

Well I'm glad to hear the floods over and everything worked out for you, except the loss of the 1 fish--sounds like it could have been much worse. Got 1 piece of good advice from my mother in law years ago, that I still follow during bad situations, that was her favorite saying during rough times--" This too shall pass"-- no matter how bad it was she was right, it will pass in the long run. good luck with everything, Tim

That's true Tim, this flood did pass, and now their are people cleaning up. There are now many homes that appear to be "condemned in my neighborhood. Some I think may be torn down, and new flood resistant homes could replace the old ones. They built new flood resistant homes on the other side of the tracks last big flood eight years ago and I see that the new and improved homes have pink condemned stickers too, so much for "new and improved"! They perhaps should built a permanent dyke....

Had a really nice Canada Day, handy nefew came down we cleaned the air conditioner and put that back in the window. House now nice and cool! No more suffocating in the heat! :)

I got a jumbo unbrella, that hangs the unbrella from the outside, drapped my bug proof net over top, and the padio space twice as large! Wow! Now I have a much bigger patio and nice place to sit right now as I type this by the pond late tonight.....

How sad to see all those homes w/ the stickers on them. Can't imagine what the families must be going through and don't want to ever have to go through it myself.Looks like you really did choose the right thing to do this time Colleen or you might be in the same situation. Hoping they can all put their lives back together and find better prevention matters in case it happens again and it sounds like it will eventually. Hey maybe you and all your neighbors should get together and have a meeting and you could speak on how you managed to save your home from the horrible damage others are going through? Your local law enforcement might not go for some of the practices tho but sometimes people have to take care of themselves the way they see fit.

We told everybody on our block to plug sewer good, that we went through this before several times, in 1995 and 2095. They don't listen, most don't care cause they only rent or they want insurance to rebuilt basement, but now some insurance companys changed policy and will not cover them anymore, so no one will come to gut the house and clean and disinfect, so heath authority has deemed them unfit for human habitatation. This will get rid of a lot of neighbors for now, puppies can have the "bark of the block" ha ha ha!

I got this new huge unbrella to make my outdoor bug free zone living room, by the pond, bigger! I have to work all day, then tomorrow I will get more blocks and lay them down to make the patio bigger, can't wait to show you, will take pictures tommorrow when I am done!!

I have to get more blocks to lay down and make the patio even bigger, cause all my neighborhood friends love to walk by and come sit and visit me in my bug free zone, cause the mosquitoes around here will EAT you ALIVE!!! And I am not joking!!!

I need to get more cement blocks to finish this area, I want to get all the grass bits out by fireplace and make it all cement blocks to keep the hungry horrid mosquitores at bay!!

I still have to put together an outside rocking chair I bought last year in sale, have to get going on that too tomorrow, my day off! :)

Follow me this way, past the front yard, see the open gate, meet me in there, under the big new unbrella, and we can have a coffee, tea or wine and beer!!! :)

100 miles from the Montana Wild Horse border crossing to Medicine Hat, Alberta!!

That was a fun tour Colleen and your work you have done to your yard is so nice and inviting. I would love to come and sit in your patio yard and visit :cheerful:
