Ok- I think it is a silly question but here it goes. We are in the middle of building our 2nd pond. I have my 150 gal. stock tank plumbed but have a couple of small leaks that I am unable to get fixed right now. I have my1/2" strapping for my bio. Can I just put it in a bag and drop it in my old pond to start the bacteria cycle on it or does it have to be contained in an area with constant water flow? I'm thinking it will work but want some output from others. Thanks

bacteria will colonize on any solid surface in the filter or pond....yes you can start it off in the current pond while your completing the new pond and filter.....

Thanks Koiguy & Dr.Dave. I want to get a head start on my filter system but can't use the new stocktank yet so will put the stapping in the old pond for now.
