No clue jw, I read they do stick around sometimes. Maybe back to the eastern shore.
We are still in a head to head battle, so far I am winning...........lol

Guess we are stuck w/ them pretty much all year here then at least west of the mountains where I live cuz it only freezes here once in awhile for a short time.

A lot of winters our water does not freeze others it does. So with any luck it will bale for the winter give me a break!

I think he will be around for the winter as the rivers in your zone don't freeze I bet except for a once in 30 years would be my guess. Maybe you should name him and give him the things he needs to make a nest in your backyard. He could be your new outside pet.

Maybe you should get a bunch of those mosquito fish and put them in your lotus tub and he can eat them, they are small and quite fast so it may entertain him or he may get frustrated and just leave.

lol that is a good idea! It may have gotten my roseys that were in the tank. Maybe a frog, I saw it catch something big, don't have any large fish in that tank.

Great the lights are on in the pond from 4p to around 11p eastern time. ow just natural, i.e. dark, sun, snow, clouds .............lol
