Hi, I'm new to chat forums, could anyone give me any advice please.
I'm installing a pond in my garden, I have an ornamental 3 tier waterfall, it has a catch water pool at the bottom, above that, there are two small bowl pools that cascades into the bottom pool & the top bowl is where the pump, pumps the water to cascade down. (Waterfall).
Any ideas if it's possible to incorporate the water fall to my little pond, making the water feature into a natural bog filtration system for the pond.
I know!!!! my hubby thinks I make life difficult too!!! I would just like to make the pond as eco as possible.
I've had a couple of ponds in the past & was giving baby fish away by the bucket load & plants that I had propagated, I'm no professional at all, pot luck I think. Or beginners luck!!!!
Thank you, even if you cannot help.

Welcome to the forum! A lot of us use bogs as our filtration system.

Post a picture of your setup, easier to see it. Then make suggestions.

I started to design a bog filter last year, but it got put on pause. One key thing I remember is that you want the bog to be about 30% in surface area of the surface area of the pond.

Beyond that, definitely post some pics and measurements :)

If I understand correctly, your pump is in the bottom pond and pumps the water up to the top bowl.

You can convert that top bowl into a bog if it is large enough to do the job.
As mentioned by member @csdude55, it is best if the bog surface area is equal to 30% of the pond's surface area. That is the suggested size if you keep fish.

The basics of it:
You can create a PVC manifold pipe with slits cut in it to disperse the water throughout your bog. This pipe gets covered with pea gravel or river stone.
The water flows up through the gravel and back down to the pond.

A bog filter can be tiny or huge. It all depends on your needs.

There are many threads here with more detail if you need more info.

Heres my bog build: ( Just scale it down if neccessary)
