Great thread, I'll be following it!
Yesterday was Bette's birthday, she went nuts at Viva Mexico. We really got some great deals..
a little late but hope you had a wonderful time and found lots of treasures
The pottery is great, this is a really huge pot and we paid $40.00 for it, it is Mayan and will match our casita when we get it built. The sconces were 2 for $20.00, they are heavy ceramic over a foot long and very thick, they will look great lighting up our entrance, I wanted 1 sun and 1 moon but they wouldn't break up the set, so we got both..
Of course, i had to add to my skull collection and buy a Mayan statue...
This is a typical police checkpoint. Heavily armed, they are looking for drug shipments..
Do they stop every car? How long does it take to get through the check points?
Never been stopped, they know who and what they are looking for. Cartel and drugs.
This seems fitting for our new place...
Was worried if either of you got sick and love those butterflies .Were they like wind chimes .Do they use dogs at the check point also .Sad when drugs have to interfere with everyday living
Glad you havent been stopped, but really, if they are not stopping and search every car well, it sounds like a waste of time. I dont want to say a cartel is in business, but legal or not, it is exactly that. As a business owner, I am always looking for "new ways" to promote the areas of our business that hubby enjoys most.
reason I asked about medical is because after my hubbies heart attack Nov.2nd and knowing how scared i was and lucky to have got there in time .When they told me he would not make it through the night I was not sure what to do .State police helped get my son fuel to get down here as it was after sandy . just scarey thoughts run through my head now
Sometimes the police down their are not the good guys!
very true colleen but there is corrupt cops all over .But down there they kill you then they make up the story .
I am sooo sorry you went through that!!! It was 6-7 yrs ago now, friends of ours were vacationing somewhere in Mexico, and the same thing .. He received great (and immediate) medical care, but the worst was getting him on the plane home (they live in NH). The doctor cleared him to leave, but warned that if the airlines knew how recent his heart attack was, that they would not let him on the flight. She was beside herself with panic that they would get "caught" ... The airlines had no knowledge of how sensive his condition was until the plane landed in Boston, and there was a waiting ambulance.
I can't imagine that fear as I know plane pressure can cause more problems and he and his wife are really lucky
She had said that the doctor was comfortable with him taking the flight, and was in contact with the hospital in Boston for the transfer, but the way it was explained was had the airlines known, the airlines would have refused him as a passenger because of the liabilities of if something was to go wrong on the flight. She spoke very highly of the doctor he had in Mexico, so I really dont think the doctor, or especially his wife, would have gone forward when they did if there was any real risk.
