Colleen, since you Canadians have stolen our heat lately, I think we are taking it back this weekend. We shall see ... maybe we will swap you for the cooler temps (70's and I loved it!!) and rain. I am sick and tired of the rain. Have not had 48 hours with no rain for the last 45 days at least, maybe longer. I need to mow, and I just mowed on Monday. Will get it done tomorrow. Did I tell you the "sprayer plane" spread fertilizer pellets on the corn around me, and forgot to close his shoot when he went over my yard? Now, I'm not complaining about getting free fertilizer, but with all the rain, it's making my grass grow crazy! I mow at 3.5" height, and mowed off 6" of grass on Monday, and will do the same tomorrow. Cool weather, rain, and fertilizer ... yep, grass is doing the happy dance. Now, if I can just convince that sprayer plane pilot to shot that off when he sprays fungicide, I might be happy! Corn around my house is awful looking, since they replanted it and then it has not quit raining, and most of the field is drowning. Heck, I have plants in my yard, even perennials, that are dying because of drowning. I planted some wild flowers I dug out of the road ditches, and when I dug out a shovelful of dirt, there was water under there! The water table is that high. Never seen that EVER before in my life. Guess maybe I never looked, but still ....

Got home last night and was able to mow even though it was 94 outside. It looks like a pretty day today but... you know... I'll wait a few minutes and see if it changes. Happy Friday all.
I mowed too, almost couldn't get the mower through the grass and I mowed last week. The stuff is growing like weeds we have had so much moisture. A decent 78 but darn sticky.

I mowed today, since having company tomorrow. It's been 5 days. I bet I cut off 6" of grass, and I mow at 3.5". Supposed to rain again this evening, I hope it goes north of me again. Would be sooooo nice to have more than 24 hours with no rain! Warm 80 today, but very humid.

We had a little rain storm pass by this afternoon and now the humidity is up but cooled off now to about 66 degrees, right now at 2 30 am in the wee hours of this beautiful summer night. I can't sleep cause today was last day of work and now I have holidays for a week by my very beautiful backyard. Still have lots to do before garden tour on the 19th of July. I am going to stain deck and clean and tidy around greenhouse, build outdoor "Fairy" hutch out of old weathered fenceboards to house my most treasured fairy display. Then there is non stop "grooming" like crazy and have yard on "drugs" for enhanced performance! Ha ha ha! !!

We cannot complain here about our July weather. Cool and sunny days, even cooler evenings. A little rain here and there, but nothing like further south - that keeps missing us. We do need some heat here soon or I won't have any tomatoes, though!

Lisa, down here in south central IL, we have had the rain, and we need DRY, or won't have any tomatoes. My plants finally are breathing again, only .1" on Fri., and none since then ... although they are threatening severe thunderstorms tonight. (They threatened that on Sat. and Sun., too, but didn't get any - Woohoo!). Was 97 yesterday, but I was at my cousin's pool, so it was glorious! Today, hot hot HOT again. My poor horses are in full sweat just eating pasture. :(
