Refurbished my 2 pond alligators today! Reattached the heads and body parts, and gave the faces a fresh coat of “scary” paint (mostly, to make the EYES stand out)!! Over the past couple of years, the heads became disconnected — and there have been floating — separated — heads and floating bodies/tails in the pond. A macabre sight, indeed! But, hey, no GBH’s!

Messed around with ponds today after work.

Going to try to see if I can get Brazilian pennywort to coat one of the underwater walls of the turtle pond, using some old filter mats and rubber coated mesh to grow the plant in.

Still need to get in main pond to pull out a big lily pot that slid into the deep end. Going to reuse it to plant dwarf water canna in.

@j.w I was right there with you! I got some of my vegetables in the ground, too, so it wasn't all drudgery! But man, was it hot! At one point I walked right into the pond just to cool off. My neighbor said "if I didn't know better I would think you were wading!" Which was exactly what I was doing!

You did a great job painting! ... reminds I also have parts of a couple of them laying around

Been working outside all day with temps in the 90s. I planted hundreds of plants while hubby worked on the new staircase....I wish it was cooler!

@Gemma We have been in the 90’s with high heat index as well. Our humidity is ridiculous!

I just spent the past 30-45 minutes rounding up and feeding 7 box turtles! Then, because they each try to intimidate the other, I have to separate and feed them each out of a separate dish.....out of sight from each other.....argh! Silly turtles! And because of ants....I can’t leave the food out — which means waiting for them to finish dining. This is how I deserve the name, “TurtleMommy”!
