Any ideas?

I need to catch and rehome some goldfish from my pond but every time I approach with a net, everyone goes into stealth mode. Any ideas on an easier way to catch them? My husband wants to use a cast net but I am afraid it will hurt the koi. As I live in SC and water is at a premium, I don't want to drain the pond down. Am I doomed to overpopulation?

We would put two gold fish in our pond except for dealing with the enviable population then the legendary "netting o' the fry".

I have had luck using a Drop net similar to the one shown in the link but round. Place the net in the pond not very deep. Allow time for the fish to get accustomed to its presence. In the winter when the water gets cold get them then as they will be moving slow. Or you could do like I do and just accidentally net them when cleaning the pond. I have never been able to intentionally catch one of my koi but I routinely catch one or two a week when cleaning.!
