hi, i know ive been asking alot of questions recently but ime new to all this and all your information is invaluable to me, anyways this isnt exactly refering to aquatic plants but ive recently been purchasing plants to plant around the outside edge of the pond, and suddenly wondered if there are any plants that are poisonous to fish that i shouldnt be planting close to the pond, i know about the problems with leaves etc and tree roots etc, just not sure about shrubs that fruit berries or plants that are poisonous etc, so far ive mainly purchased hostas, pampas grass, ferns and a japanese acer, are these safe?
thankyou

I have used ornamental grasses, hostas and a wide variety of "creeping" ground plants. I agree about the berries. Anything that would produce something you do not want the fish to eat like that.

That list keeps showing up and it is not accurate. I cultivate Taro (elephant ears, arrowhead) whatever you want to call it for years. It is my biggest cash crop and it does not harm the Koi.
Just because it is on the internet, does not mean it is the truth.

Definitely agree with the Taro and Elephant ears. I use them in all my ponds. Heck I have a Taro plant in with the baby koi and if a leaf hits the water they eat on it.
