It's a chinese salamander if I remember correctly they are an endangered species sadly :(

Very cool pic! I wondered if it was photo shopped when I first saw it. Hard to tell these days what real and what isn't. I would love to actually have newts or salamanders. I've added some a few times and never was able to get them started. Don't think I want something that big in the pond though.

Yeah, pretty gross sucker, isn't it?

Two varieties, Japanese and Chinese Giant Salamander, they can grow up to 1.5m (Japanese) and to 1.8m (Chinese).

Now, for our American friends.......a meter is 3'3". You do the math. That's a whole lot of ugly.
